There is a life lesson that can be taking from the first chapter of Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. It starts when Jim Gallien trys to warn and talk Alex out of taking this trip into the wild. Jim is an experianced outdoorsman and can tell that Alex is not equipt for an extended trip into the wilderness. Jim is a good role modle because he picked up Alex who was hitch hiking. Alex looked cold and needy and Jim did the right thing by helping him he also continually gave Alex advice and offered hi food and gave Alex boots. He even offered to drive Alex all the way to Anchorage, buy him soem decent gear, and then drive him all the way back to where he wanted to go. The lesson to be learned here is that being a charitable and helpful person is the right thing to do.
